I am an artist who happens to make a living in
mechanical engineering. My work is
influenced by living abroad in Spain as well as living in Albuquerque NM. My
artwork mainly consists of Old Master’s Technique oil paintings on canvas, but I
also do soft pastels and graphite. For the Old Master’s Technique, I was
influenced by Caravaggio and John Singer Sargent for realistic effects. I have
studied several books on this technique and practice it.
I have been oil painting for 38 years mostly
in the realism style but have flavors of impressionism. The subject matter I
paint is usually figures in motion as can be seen in the Flamenco and Tuscan
Farmers. I also paint New Mexico Sunsets and Spanish Churches. In addition to painting and maybe based on my
engineering background, I have built a small pocket bronze foundry and can cast
up to 50 lbs. I am currently working on
small pieces and have the clays completed for a ballerina, small child with
butterfly, and handles for cabinets which are at various stages of
molding. The process I use is the lost
wax method and perform all of the steps myself.
My Work has appeared in a couple of juried select shows: * Life in the West Art Gallery- Artist Favorite: https://lifeinthewestart.com/gallery-events/ * SWA 2023 Small Works
